The “Associazione Ferrovie Siciliane — AFS”

 

is an association established ex art. no. 36 of Italian Civil Code. All its Members are voluntary, it’s no-profit, it’s cultural and recreational; it has not political and/or religious affiliation, open to everyone who share its inspiring principles and pursue exclusively goals of social solidarity in the following activities:

· promote the culture of all forms of rail, naval and air traffic;

· promote retrieval, preservation, conservation and use of rail vehicles and, secondly, of other vehicles of public transportation which are expression of its history or that have peculiar technical and mechanical features. The SRA, may then acquire by any means, even free, vehicles, materials and documents relevant to this goal;

· arrange the retrieval and preservation of material, documents and illustrations having circulative, historical, artistic and scientific interest, with a peculiar eye to the rail transport local status;

· promote studies and works on history of rail communications;

· promote, spread and co-ordinate static and dynamic modelling activities;

· popularize the modelling culture, through exibitions, shows, conventions and displays;

· foster the participation of its members to modelling meetings and shows;

· establish co-operation relationships with other authorities and organizations, domestic and international, with identical – or similar- goals;

· establish co-operation relationships, activities and cultural events with transportation agencies, local, national and international;

· promote and organise all iniziatives and events devoted to the achievement of these goals and to accomplish any action compatible with the association goals;

· represent in any place and circumstances the interests of transportation systems enthusiasts and experts;

· build and tighten friendship and social solidarity binds among all transportation systems enthusiasts and experts.

2010 Membership Campaign

Can become members of the AFS those interested in the activities of the Association (see box on the left).

Besides Founder and Honorary Members, our members can be:

· Ordinary;

· Supporting;

· Junior.

Are Ordinary Members individual people, associations, boards, companies, or groups established with every right whose entrance applications have been accepted by the Board. The status of Ordinary Member becomes effective as soon as the Board has informed the applicant of the application acceptance and provided the relevant member fee has been paid.

Are Junior Members those who, at the moment of application or of renewal are under 18 years of age.

Are Supporting Members those who, in addition to their regular annual fee, give a free grant, even “una tantum”, equal to or higher then the regular annual fee.

To apply for AFS it is necessary to submit an application request to the Board. [go to the Application Form]

Submitting an application request to AFS implies that the applicant accept all statutory rules.

Application for AFS is annual and is renewed every year against payment of the regular fee.

Being a member imply that he/she gets involved in all the activities of AFS, to election polls and to be elected to the Association Board positions

The 2010 membership fee is € 45,00 for Ordinary Members and € 34,00 for Junior Members, according the method of payment indicated at the moment of submitting the application request.

 

 

 

 

 

All AFS, members will receive, a Membership Card, along with a copy of the Association Charter.

The Card entitles the Members to partecipate to the Association meetings and to enjoy all those advantages which, time after time, the Association my offer..

The Associazione Ferrovie Siciliane — AFS (Sicilian Railways Association), based in Messina, Italy, is a non-profit Association legally and lawfully established by supporters (modellers and not), sympathizers fo the rail and naval transportation world.

 

AFS’s costs are covered by annual membership fees, revenues from advertisement spaces made availabe on this site and free grants by all those who like to support and share with us this “project”.
